CONTEXTUALIZING WESTERN ESL PEDAGOGIES: ADAPTING COMMUNICATIVE AND TASK-BASED APPROACHES TO THE UZBEK CULTURAL AND EDUCATIONAL CONTEXT (703-706-bet)
Annotatsiya
This paper explores the adaptation of Western English as a Second Language (ESL) teaching methods-particularly Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) and Task-Based Language Teaching (TBLT)-to the Uzbek cultural and educational context. While Western ESL pedagogy emphasizes learner autonomy, interaction, and authentic communication, these principles often conflict with local traditions of teacher-centered instruction and exam-oriented learning. The study argues that effective language education in Uzbekistan requires not mere adoption, but thoughtful localization of Western practices to align with social norms, student expectations, and institutional realities.
