TASK-BASED ASSESSMENT: MEASURING PERFORMANCE THROUGH MEANINGFUL TASKS (779-781-bet)
Annotatsiya
Task-Based Assessment (TBA) is an emerging and influential approach within English language teaching, especially for young learners in primary education. Unlike traditional assessments that emphasize discrete language forms, TBA evaluates how effectively learners use language in authentic, goal-oriented tasks. This paper explores the theoretical basis of TBA, outlines its benefits and challenges, and provides detailed examples of how teachers can design and implement task-based assessments in primary English classrooms. By prioritizing communicative competence and learner engagement, TBA offers educators a framework that aligns teaching, learning, and assessment in meaningful ways. Practical strategies for integrating formative and summative assessment, rubric design, and technology-supported assessment are discussed. Implications for teacher development and curriculum reform are also highlighted.
